Research shows that exercise is a critical part of a cancer treatment plan, improving both physical and mental health during every phase of care — before, during, and after treatment. Even if you were not active before your diagnosis, a personalized exercise program can help you move safely and successfully, supporting your recovery, resilience, and overall quality of life.

Exercise tailored to the unique needs of individuals affected by cancer can help mitigate many common side effects of treatment, including:

  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Lymphedema and fluid retention
  • Peripheral neuropathy (numbness or tingling)
  • Loss of strength, muscle mass, and flexibility
  • Bone density loss and increased risk of fractures
  • Scar tissue and range of motion limitations
  • Constipation and digestive challenges
  • Anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm
  • Sleep disturbances and difficulty relaxing
  • Balance challenges and fall risk

A regular, supportive movement practice can also improve cardiovascular health, reduce inflammation, enhance immune function, and promote emotional well-being — helping you reconnect with your body in a positive, healing way.

What to Expect

💛 Personalized sessions: In-person or virtual sessions are customized to your energy level, comfort, and goals. We move slowly and intentionally, incorporating breathing practices, awareness techniques, and mindful movement to support healing.

✨ Oncology Yoga: Based on gentle flow yoga, each 50-minute session meets you exactly where you are — whether on a chair or mat — with modifications to accommodate fatigue, limited range of motion, balance concerns, or medical devices. Yoga supports lymphatic flow, strengthens muscles, improves flexibility, calms the nervous system, and fosters emotional resilience.

🪑 Chair Strength Training & Stretch: Designed to build full-body strength while minimizing strain, these 50-minute sessions combine seated warm-ups, light weight resistance training, supported stretching, and guided cool-downs. This style helps restore muscle mass, boost circulation, ease joint stiffness, and support confidence in daily movements.

Additional Notes

Movement is not about pushing limits or meeting arbitrary goals — it is about supporting your healing at every stage. Gentle, oncology-informed movement fosters a return to strength, flexibility, balance, and vitality at your own pace. By creating a sustainable self-care routine, these practices help you cultivate a sense of empowerment, agency, and trust in your body again.
