Restorative Remission

Erin Johnston is a Registered Nurse, Certified Radical Remission Health Coach, Restorative Yoga Teacher, and trained Grief Support Group Facilitator. A wife and mother of four, Erin helps parents with health concerns align with their bodies and reconnect with their families. She believes the human body is beautifully intricate and that living a connected life is essential. Her path has been shaped by personal loss—her mother died in a car accident when she was 13, and her father died of cancer when she was 21. She was later diagnosed with lupus and Sjögren’s syndrome at age 28. Rather than letting illness define her, she viewed it as an invitation to explore her body, mind, and soul. As a nurse, yogini, and mom, Erin understands that pushing the body is not always what it needs. Many experience healthy movement as a stop-and-go process, and she creates space for brave souls to spark healing and let it flow. Erin offers parents navigating illness a place to feel heard, supported, and reminded that it is okay to be where they are. She empowers clients at any stage to live intentionally, with compassion and grace.

Offering

Discover the freedom of connecting your body, mind, and spirit through restorative yoga. This practice isn’t about flexibility or balance—it’s about finding stillness and nurturing your entire being. Designed to calm your nervous system and promote deep relaxation, restorative yoga offers evidence-based benefits for stress reduction, improved sleep, and enhanced overall well-being.

How Evidence-Based Practice Can Help You

Research shows that restorative yoga can:

  • Activate the parasympathetic nervous system (your body’s relaxation response) to counteract stress.
  • Reduce cortisol levels, helping to lower inflammation and support immune health.
  • Improve mental clarity and emotional resilience by promoting mindfulness and inner calm.
  • Enhance flexibility and mobility through gentle, sustained stretches.
  • Foster better sleep quality by soothing the mind and body.

This therapeutic approach is perfect for individuals managing chronic stress, recovering from illness, or seeking a gentle and accessible entry into yoga.

What to Expect During a Restorative Yoga Session

Each 60-75-minute session is carefully designed to nourish your body and mind. You will relax in poses held for 5-10 minutes, allowing your muscles to lengthen slowly and your mind to quiet. As you move through the session, you will be guided to connect deeply with yourself, fostering a sense of peace and renewal.

Suggested Props for Your Practice

To create the most comfortable and supportive experience, you may wish to use the following items you have at home:

  • Pillows or a bolster/body pillow

These props are optional, and modifications can be made to suit your space and needs.
