She incorporates Reiki, meditation, and restorative yoga into her coaching to foster connection with each client’s inner guidance in a compassionate, judgment-free environment. Each July, Leslie leads a retreat to an Ayurvedic resort in Kerala, India, her ancestral home, providing further pathways for healing and renewal.

Offering

This ceremony, inspired by the work of Rachel Naomi Remen, is a heartfelt, evidence-based modality designed to offer love, strength, and support to someone newly diagnosed with cancer. In the early, uncertain days after a diagnosis, when there is often little to do but wait, this ritual provides a meaningful way for loved ones to come together, fostering connection and resilience as they prepare for the journey ahead.

The Healing Power of Ceremonial Cacao
Central to the ceremony is the sharing of ceremonial cacao - a pure, minimally processed form of chocolate revered in indigenous cultures for its heart-opening and therapeutic properties. Cacao has been shown to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance emotional connection, making it an ideal complement to this healing ritual. As participants drink cacao together, it fosters a sense of unity, emotional openness, and support.

The Ritual of the Stone
Gathered in a supportive circle, participants pass a stone from one person to the next, sharing a personal story of struggle and reflecting on what helped them overcome it. For example, someone might say, “During my difficult divorce, my faith helped me persevere,” and then infuse the stone with that quality before passing it on. By the end of the ceremony, the newly diagnosed individual receives a stone imbued with the collective strength, wisdom, and resources of their community. This stone becomes a powerful symbol of love and support, offering comfort during treatments, surgeries, or moments of fear. Many participants find it a tangible reminder that they are not alone.

The Impact of the Ceremony
This evidence-based ritual draws on principles of narrative medicine, community support, and mindfulness, which are shown to improve coping and emotional well-being in patients facing serious illnesses. It offers participants an opportunity to “do something” meaningful in a time of helplessness, providing reassurance and demonstrating solidarity. The ceremony empowers the individual to feel surrounded by strength and love, helping them approach their journey with greater confidence and hope.
