Compassionate Massage Therapy & Bodywork

Alassandra Marquez is a certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist (CMLDT) trained in the Vodder method and a certified massage therapist (CMT) whose work is rooted in the connection between the body and mind. Her path into bodywork was shaped by her experience as a Survivor Advocate supporting individuals impacted by sexual assault and domestic violence, as well as personal loss from cancer, which led her to study the neurophysiological effects of trauma and holistic healing practices. Alassandra completed over 700 hours of training at Pacific College of Health and Sciences in San Diego and has pursued additional certifications through Klose Training, Full Circle Health & Wellness, and the Sound Healing Academy. Her work integrates a range of modalities including oncology massage, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, acupressure, Thai, Swedish, deep tissue, Hawaiian lomi lomi, and vibrational sound therapy. She is also a preferred provider of Manual Lymphatic Drainage with the Society 4 Oncology Massage. Alassandra’s approach emphasizes creating a safe, supportive space to help individuals feel more at ease in their bodies while encouraging awareness, resilience, and overall well-being.

Offering

Bodywork that acknowledges the physical, emotional, and spiritual pain from cancer and loss. Beyond relaxation, this session holds space for honoring the feelings and changes that grief brings and the impacts that may come. This approach of massage therapy aims to provide relief from tension and grief through heart-centered grounding strategies and calm contact.

Each session begins with a brief exchange of communication between the client and practitioner to clarify therapeutic goals and personal needs in relation to bodywork. The massage therapist will assess clinical considerations to develop a specialized treatment that may include various bodywork techniques that are evidence-based, traditional, and rooted in holistic care. Massage modalities and hand techniques may include: Manual Lymphatic Drainage, deep tissue, acupressure, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Thai massage, cupping, craniosacral therapy, and stretching.

The length of the session may be 60- or 90-minutes, after initial intake is complete.

What You Can Expect:

- A space to slow down: Extra time is included to check in and out of the session to pause for a moment of self-compassion.
- Comfort: Massage may be performed over loose clothing or directly on skin. Extra pillows or tools can be used to help establish comfort.
- Sensitivity to Scents: Unscented or aromatherapy balms are optional.
- Coping strategies: In addition to massage therapy, clients may choose to end their session with an optional guided activity to support their emotional and mental health; guided activities include yoga mudras, qigong tapping, meditation, sound healing, and/or lessons on self-massage.
- Acceptance: There is no need to perform or pretend things are fine. You can have a silent session, or you can speak from your heart if you prefer to share anything. Clients are not expected to share any details of their loss, and grief-centered massage is not counseling or talk therapy.
