This is a gentle, client-centered approach that combines therapeutic massage with breath awareness and guided body awareness techniques to help calm the nervous system and reduce the effects of stress. Rather than focusing solely on muscles, this approach encourages greater awareness of physical sensations, breathing patterns, and areas of tension, helping clients reconnect with their bodies in a safe and supportive environment. Living with cancer and its treatments can place significant physical and emotional demands on the body. Stress may contribute to muscle tension, disrupted sleep, fatigue, anxiety, and difficulty relaxing. Somatic Massage is designed to support relaxation by using gentle therapeutic touch, mindful breathing, and pacing that is tailored to your comfort level and current health status. Each session begins with a conversation about your goals, symptoms, treatment history, and any concerns you may have. Massage techniques, positioning, pressure, and the pace of the session are modified to accommodate your individual needs, including recent surgeries, radiation, medical devices, or treatment-related side effects. Guided breathing and body awareness may be incorporated throughout the session if desired, but participation is always optional. Research supports massage therapy and mindfulness-based practices as complementary approaches that may help reduce stress, promote relaxation, improve body awareness, decrease muscle tension, and enhance overall well-being. Sessions are intended to complement—not replace—your medical treatment and are provided within your comfort level at all times. Appointments are available in 30-, 45- or 60-minute sessions. A 90-minute initial session is recommended to allow time for a comprehensive health history and the development of a personalized treatment plan. Whether you are in active treatment, recovery, or survivorship, Somatic Massage offers a supportive space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with your body while promoting relaxation and comfort throughout your healing journey.
