Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized, light-pressure massage technique designed to encourage the natural movement of lymphatic fluid throughout the body. The lymphatic system plays an important role in immune function and fluid balance, and when it becomes impaired by surgery, radiation, lymph node removal, or certain medical conditions, swelling and discomfort can occur. This gentle, rhythmic technique is commonly used as part of lymphedema management and may also provide support during recovery from cancer treatment. Every session is individualized based on your medical history, surgical procedures, areas of concern, and current symptoms. MLD may help reduce swelling, improve comfort, encourage healthy tissue mobility, and promote relaxation. Sessions can also be beneficial for individuals experiencing feelings of heaviness, tightness, or restricted movement related to fluid accumulation. Appointments are available in 30- 45- or 60-minute sessions. During your first visit, a comprehensive intake will review your medical history, cancer treatments, surgeries, and personal goals to ensure treatment is both safe and appropriate. Treatment uses extremely gentle pressure and should never be painful. Clients remain comfortably draped throughout the session and are encouraged to communicate their comfort level at any time. Manual Lymphatic Drainage is intended to complement, not replace, your medical care and is provided using established lymphatic techniques and oncology precautions appropriate for your individual needs.
