Help AACA Bring Cancer Screening and Support Closer to Communities
Cancer is an increasing public health challenge in Uganda, and behind every statistic is a person, a family and a community whose life has been changed by the disease.
Cancer remains a major health challenge in Uganda. According to WHO/IARC GLOBOCAN 2024, an estimated 29,966 people developed cancer and 18,205 died from the disease in Uganda in 2024. Cervical cancer alone accounted for 5,164 new cases and 3,000 deaths, while breast cancer accounted for 3,308 new cases and prostate cancer for 2,537. Breast cancer is also a major concern, with many women diagnosed at Stage III or IV, when treatment is more difficult and chances of survival are considerably reduced.
This is where Action Against Cancer (AACA) comes in.
Action Against Cancer (AACA), a member of the Uganda Alliance of Patients' Organizations (UAPO), works to reduce the burden of cancer through community cancer education and awareness, prevention, screening and early detection, patient navigation and support, referrals, advocacy and research.
AACA takes cancer information and services closer to communities because a person's income, location or circumstances should not determine whether their cancer is detected early enough to give them a better chance.
Through community outreach, AACA helps people understand cancer risks and warning signs, encourages timely screening and care-seeking, connects people to appropriate services and supports patients and families as they navigate the cancer journey.
But We Cannot Do It Alone
AACA is raising funds to bring cancer education, screening, early detection, referral and patient support closer to underserved communities in Uganda.
Your donation can help us reach someone who has never had an opportunity to be screened. It can help educate a woman about breast or cervical cancer, encourage a man to seek prostate cancer screening, support community outreach, facilitate referrals and help patients navigate the difficult journey from suspicion and diagnosis to appropriate care.
Early detection can change the course of a person's cancer journey—but only if people can access it.
DONATE TODAY. SHARE. PARTNER. TAKE ACTION AGAINST CANCER.
Every contribution large or small moves us closer to another community, another screening, another referral and another person receiving help when it matters most.
Cancer doesn't wait. Neither should we.
Together, we can reach people earlier, support patients better and give more families and communities a fighting chance against cancer.
Donate to AACA. Share this campaign. Sponsor a cancer outreach. Mobilize your workplace, family, community or organization. Partner with us to take cancer screening and support to more people.
