Greater National Advocates: Trusted Support and Accessible Advocacy When Patients Need It Most

Greater National Advocates is organizing this KittyFund™.
Greetings,
Many have shared their deep connection to CAT’s mission and desire to support, even without a specific patient in mind. In response, CAT has created three very special KittyFunds™, each highlighting a nonprofit that reflects CAT’s values and vision. These are not tied to an individual story, but to collective impact.
🌍 Silent Spring Institute – Advancing research and education to prevent cancer and reduce toxic exposures. With a strong focus on the links between environmental chemicals and women’s health, Silent Spring Institute empowers individuals, communities, and policymakers with cutting-edge science to drive systemic change. Their work helps uncover hidden risks and advocates for a cleaner, healthier future for all.
💗 Cancer Lifeline – Offering need-based emotional and financial support to patients in treatment. Cancer does not just impact the body—it touches every aspect of life. Cancer Lifeline helps relieve the emotional and financial burdens that too often accompany a diagnosis, ensuring patients have access to vital services, resources, and compassionate support during treatment. Their holistic approach honors the full experience of healing, from emotional well-being to practical assistance.
🩺 Greater National Advocates – Connecting patients with trusted healthcare advocates to navigate care. Whether facing a new diagnosis, a complex treatment decision, or challenges within the healthcare system, Greater National Advocates ensures patients never have to go it alone. Their nationwide network of certified advocates helps individuals make informed decisions, improve communication with providers, and receive the right care at the right time.
Together, these organizations embody the heart of what CAT stands for - i.e., prevention, the foundation of care, and advocacy.
In health,

The healthcare system is fragmented and confusing, often leaving patients and their loved ones feeling lost and unsupported. Medical care alone isn’t enough, and the system isn’t equipped to help people understand their options, speak up, and navigate complex decisions confidently.
Greater National Advocates (GNA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making Independent Patient Advocacy accessible to everyone. Experienced Independent Patient Advocates work solely for patients, providing comprehensive support—from explaining complex medical information and coordinating care to navigating insurance, billing, and treatment decisions—ensuring patient voices are heard throughout their healthcare journey.
To provide timely support, GNA offers the Advocacy Support Center (ASC)—a free, nationwide service staffed by trained Independent Patient Advocate volunteers who serve as Patient Advocacy Liaisons. These Liaisons listen, answer general questions, help identify resources, and connect callers to trusted advocacy professionals or community services. The ASC is available by phone, email, or online form—at no cost and without insurance requirements.
For ongoing or specialized support, GNA offers the GNA Directory—the largest searchable national database of professional Independent Patient Advocates. Patients and loved ones can use the free directory to find advocates by location, specialty, or need. These advocates work as independent contractors, assisting with care coordination, insurance, billing, treatment decisions, and more.
Beyond direct services, GNA is committed to making sure every patient who wants an advocate can access one. Through public education, storytelling, and healthcare partnerships, GNA works to make Independent Patient Advocacy a widely recognized and accessible resource.
A donation to the Greater National Advocates supports our mission to expand access to trusted, independent advocacy for patients and their loved ones. Supporting GNA empowers individuals to face healthcare challenges with confidence, clarity, and compassionate support—because no one should navigate the system alone.
