Leila Gonzalez

Hello, my name is Leila. I was diagnosed with IDC Stage 2 on August 26, 2024. I live with my four special needs dogs and Coco the cockatoo. My cancer journey has been difficult — balancing a demanding career while also losing my mom during radiation treatment — but I am still here.

I run a non-profit called Treasure's Hope, which I have temporarily closed to finish active treatment. Our mission is to support special needs bully breeds and double merles, though we truly help any animal with special needs.

One dream I have is to expand Treasure’s Hope to include a component dedicated to helping cancer patients keep their pets in their homes. This would involve volunteers helping with feeding, walking, or simply spending time with pets when their owners are unable to do so. I was lucky enough to have a village of support that helped me care for my bulldog, who needs the most attention.

Right now, I am focusing on getting physically fit so that this becomes just one chapter in my book.
